Hey Everyone,
Isn't March a beautiful month? Not only because it’s the month I was born, but also because it’s the start of spring. It’s a time to start waking up from winter’s slumber, to stretch your limbs and your mind. Especially after the long dark months of winter. Now is the time to plant new ideas into the ground, to nurture them and see them bloom in the summer. It’s the season that you fill up your calendar with plans and set goals for the rest of the year. Goals that will challenge and stretch you both personally and professionally.
So, with this in mind, I created a print shop in my online store! It’s been something I’ve been wanting to create for months and now with the energy of spring running through my veins, I finally took the time to start it! I think prints are wonderful because I’m very passionate about affordable art. I believe that everyone should be able to own at least one piece of artwork that really SPEAKS to them. You might think I’m crazy that art can “speak” to you, but just wait, if it hasn’t yet, that just means you must listen a little closer. MANY people cannot afford to purchase an original piece of artwork. Art will always be a luxury item, which is why prints are such a phenomenal way to start bringing new art into your home at a reasonable price.
When I look at a piece of artwork that I love, I feel joy. When I’m creating a piece of my own art, the world falls away and time slows down. So, no wonder I became an artist! Can you blame me for wanting more time filled with joy and beautiful focused energy?
On www.artnet.com I found an interesting article that discusses a fascinating study that reveals that the human brain is hard-wired to appreciate art.
“According to the Wall Street Journal, “the study found that paintings activated areas of the brain involved in vision, pleasure, memory, recognition and emotions, in addition to systems that underlie the conscious processing of new information to give it meaning.” Which means that art appreciation is not only a natural, biological process, but that it’s probably good for us.” (via www.artnet.com)
So, the next time a piece of artwork speaks to you, I say go for it! Bring a little more joy into your world by not only helping support artists in a challenging industry (starving artist should NOT be a thing), but by also finding your own style and developing an eye for what you enjoy. In a way, finding what art speaks to you is also a way to get to know yourself better.
